Hawzah News Agency- President Masoud Pezeshkian told Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Iran and Russia can play an effective role in strengthening peace and a multilateral order, while emphasizing the need to accelerate the implementation of agreements and understandings between Tehran and Moscow. Pezeshkian said the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation, trade, and power plant infrastructure was a priority for the two nations’ relations.
Pezeshkian also said that through ongoing consultations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, matters concerning bilateral understandings, implementation plans, and the expansion of joint cooperation are being actively pursued. Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the stance and support of the President, government, and people of Russia during the recent war, and he emphasized the importance of continued mutual support and the strengthening of political and diplomatic cooperation in line with the shared interests of both nations.
The President argued that the assassination of the Leader of the Revolution, the commanders, the scientists, the students, and the targeting of our country’s infrastructure were not in line with any legal or international standard. The President said the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any initiative and joint mechanism with regional countries in the fields of peace and security, economic development, cultural and scientific cooperation, and expanding people-to-people relations.
Medvedev told the meeting that the Russian president’s representative reaffirmed Moscow’s serious determination to fully and effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the two countries.
Medvedev also said the Russian presidential representative noted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS are among the most important platforms for cooperation among independent countries that oppose unilateral approaches.
